FIRST PRESbYTERIAN CHURCHNEWTON, IOWA

Opus 54 : 3 manuals, 27 ranks

year complete, 2011

The pipe organ for the First Presbyterian Church of Newton, Iowa, built by Quimby Pipe Organs, Inc., is a three manual instrument of 27 ranks. The Great and Swell are located at the front of the church, above and to the right of the rostrum area, behind a façade of speaking and non-speaking Principal pipes. The Pedal 16′ wood Subbass forms a functional display on the opposite front side. Both Great and Swell employ Quimby-style electro-pneumatic slider windchests. An Echo division from the previous Austin organ was redesigned and located in its existing chamber, speaking into the balcony.
